ok, so yeah, anyone want to write a 2500 word essay regarding the national cinemas of iran and the balkans (dogme 95, naturally), in reference particular to kiarostami's close up and thomas vinterberg's festen? no? no takers? i ask this every semester...

and yes i do get a cheap thrill out of name dropping exotic foreign films and movements that only the cinematically inclined would really know about or have seen or either, it's terribly pathetic.

today: *mint slices *tim tams *brownies
*enrolment! - creative techniques for shorts; documentary production; photography 3 (pending); music and popular culture; netcultures and practices (web design). not particularly happy with choices, but hell.
*drove car got road rage again, so tried listening to my delta CD to get rid of it (track 8 is my favourite *blush*) but that didn't work...
*tried desperately to start writing the aforementioned essay (due next tues) 124/2500 is one word less than 5%, well, that just leaves... er... 95%.

OH! tehe - ever done that email forward about the three digit number and your age? no? in case no, this is it: pick single digit number. multiply by 2. add 5. multiply by 50. if you have had your birthday this year, add 1753, if not, add 1752. subtract the year you were born. you should have a three digit number - the first digit being your original number, the second two being your age. try it. before you read the next paragraph, try it.

it works, yeah. i got that email forward today, and i replied to everyone thus:

Maths Geek:

let a = your single digit number
let b = the year you were born
let c = your final 3 digit number

the equation above works out to be:
50(2a + 5) + 1753 (for argument's sake as we are in november) - b = c
100a + 250 + 1753 - b = c
100a + 2003 - b = c
100a + YOURAGE = c

Since 100a is a multiple of 100, the first digit of your three digit number is a (your original number), and the second two is your age, as per equation.

for that, i got called a fucking freak, but it was just hilarious, well, i thought it was anyway, feel free to sign my guestbook regarding how much of a nerd i am.
